Need help with computers? Dayton Metro Library has a class for you!

For many, the prospect of using computers for projects or work can be daunting. Luckily, the public library offers free computer courses to teach people how to use many of the most common features of computers. Although they are free, some classes require advance registration. Be sure to call ahead if you want to take a class that requires registration. Contact the main library with any questions:

Microsoft Word Applied
First in a two part series, this class will introduce you to the basics of Microsoft Word. It will provide instruction on using the menus and toolbars of Word and give you a chance to practice creating and editing a simple Word document. Advanced registration is required.

Microsoft Word in Action
This intermediate class will introduce you to the basics of Microsoft Word. This class will review page setup and introduce tables, bulleted lists, and graphics, including clip art. You will have a chance to practice creating simple documents using these elements. Advanced registration is required.

Microsoft Excel Applied
This class introduces students to the basics of Microsoft’s spreadsheet program. Material covered includes spreadsheet terminology and capabilities, workbook creation and management, data manipulation, toolbars, using the Excel “help” function, sorting, basic functions, and basic editing features. Examples of everyday spreadsheet use are provided. Advance registration required.

Mouse Basics
Before you begin to use a computer, there is the mouse. Learn the mouse skills needed to begin your computer training. Master your Mouse skills with Mousercise. This class is for those with minimal to no mouse skills.

Whether applying for a job online or just keeping in touch with family, having an Email account has become an essential way to communicate in today's society. This class is your introduction to electronic mail. You will have the opportunity sign up for your own e-mail account as we learn the basics of electronic mail.
